Hey so my buddy has an old just standard round fishing tube... Just an old inner tube with a cover that lets you sit up in it... I have tried the "u-boats" and I would give 100 of them for that old round tube. It lets you sit up higher and makes bass fishingSOOO much easier...
anybody around the san angelo, abilene sell tubes like this?
Guys I know that this belongs in the tube section, and I put it there, but due to the lower views and the fact I need info ASAP I am posting it here...

A long time ago I made one and had many great trips with it. This is how I made mine. The seat was made from one of those fiberglass chairs...I cut out places for my legs leaving a middle strip about 3" wide. I found some wide belting material and I formed a cross...one strap ran from back to front...the other sideways under my butt. I drilled holes through the seat and belting and secured with bolts, washers and nuts. I preferred to power mine with frog feet...moving backwards through the water...I could 'motor'! Good Luck!

+1 I had two made by the same company several years ago. They make them out of canvas. They are great. The company's name is Abilene Tarp.

Call Abilene Tarp and Manufacturing on Treadway. Talk to Smoothie. He makes one of the best tubes around. Have had mine for over 15 years.

He makes the absolute best tube on the market. A couple of mine are over 20 years old and still are good. Smoothie can make any custom modifications that you want!! If you want taller side zipper storage places, just tell him. Any color too!!!!

I've got an old Caddis brand float tube...This thread just reminded me of it, its been hanging in my shed for almost 10 years. Might have to dig it out and get another tube for it, there is a pond near my house that would be a perfect place to crack it back out..
