I am wondering. Has anyone used live grub worms for catfish? I may be fishing a pond with a lot of St. Augustine grass around it. I know that grubs typically invade St. Augustine so I am thinking that grubs should be my bait of choice. Thanks

We caught a couple of good sized cats on them last year, but they were the BIG grubs(rhinoceros beetle?). I had been throwing my grass clippings behind the fence for the past couple of years. A digging fork discovered lots of big fat juicy ones.

Thanks guys, I think my grubs are a bit small compared to some I see online. I'll have to try the grass clippings. Until then I'll stick to nightcrawlers and shad.

I live S.E. Ga. I take my kids to ponds. Grubworms are serious. I think the fish look at them and say "oh a grub with a hook in it ,I gotta have it". I have only used them in freshwater. The bigger the grub -the bigger the fish. keep a handcleaner with you . They have a distinct aroma.

You said it Tom - learned that one decades ago fishing Lake Nacogdoches. Them channels and I mean big ones, 14+ lbs were hitting and feasting on June bugs at night. Kept a couple college boys from going hungry living off campus.

Tom is right, right now june bugs are hot bait. The way that I caught them is put about 1 1/2 inches water in a wash tub then put a clip on light facing the water the bugs crash in the water flying to the light in the morning just scoop the floating bugs out and fish on

Perch love grubs. You could catch some perch and use the perch as bait.

I literally have probably 50 june bugs on my driveway every morning. Never would of thought to put them out as catfish bait.
