let me start off by saying i've really only fished salt water, i don't know anything about fresh water. i live in wharton and there's this bridge with the colorado river going under it, and i thought whoa this looks like a nice place to fish. my dad says that since it flows to the ocean there might possibly be redfish up this far, and that would be awesome. but realistically, i don't really know what's in there and if i did i wouldn't know what bait to use. the only info i've been able to find about fishing the colorado is fly fishing near austin  well, that doesn't help me much... tl;dr -- i need info/tips about fish/bait for the colorado river in wharton. thanks

There is an inflatible dam (Salt water Break) on the colorado in Bay City. So, not much chance in getting Redfish up as far as Wharton. I'll bet the catfishing is good at times though.

I just registered to help out with this one. It's pretty old, but oh well. I live in Wharton, and me and my brother just fished there yesterday. We wadded back towards los cucos, and came up with a few largemouth and some perch. I was using a white rooster tail, he had a pumpkin seed rooster tail. Either, he is better, or they like pumpkin seed more, but he caught more than I. I've had luck in the past with a tiger stripe crank bait, and hula popper. As long as you stick to jigs, spinners, or a combo of both, you'll do pretty good.
