I was out on LL yesterday, not great. The fish seem to be on a pattern from 3 - 4 years ago, for me. One thing I did notice is the bait fish don't seem to be insanely populous as it was last year. Ray Roberts sand bass are off last year's pattern. All in all that does not mean a lot as I have small samples for this year. Water is deeper than this time last year.

Yesterday, me and the Baitmaster went out to target hybrids after work. We went looking for bait but it was not where it was last week. So with the years of knowledge that Baitmaster has in bait gathering, we went to where they should be this time of year, on rocky wind blown shores laying eggs.Found a good stretch of gravel with terns hitting the water and had 40 nice threads with a couple big gizzards mixed in.Headed out to my favorite spot and anchored up in 19 feet of water. The back of the boat was in 19 feet, the front was on a ledge in 28 feet.We caught 9 hybrids, the biggest about 6 lbs, and 4 sandies in about an hours time. Best period was at 6:30 to 7:30.Most of the fish were caught in the shallower water at 19 feet. We hooked the threads through the back so they would thrash about more and that seemed to get the fish to strike.water temp was 68 degrees and the wind was light out of the north. So the fish are back but the bait is up very shallow laying eggs. watch out for windblown shores that have gravel and note the terns diving into the water. We knew we were on bait when we saw a tern bring up a 3 inch shad. We are planning on catching bait Friday night and going to Texoma and slaying the stripers on Saturday morning. With no bait being found on Texoma, we should hit it just right.

Were you out in the morning or evening? I was out in the morning and only saw one other boat fishing for the striped fish, an older model bass boat with one guy in it.

I was out in the evening. My boat is a chartreuse metal flake with a black stripe 96 basscat, ugly but the performance and the price was right.

All good information, thanks. We just got in from a Lewisville evening fish. Caught a mixture of various sized sandies inside the main lake 121 cut. Birds working but scattered and fish would only stay up about 45 seconds. At least there are some good sized shad that made it through a hard winter. Had on 2 hybrids for a moment but they got the best of us.

Yeah, Mon & Tuesday I had to work at finding bait ... then Tuesday evening when I was all done fishing (and not coincidentally out of bait) I headed back towards the boat ramp & saw the terns diving on the bait so close to where I was netting earlier in the day! Aggravating! Did see TPWD on the main ramp stocking hybrid fry & spoke with them for a bit. This was a 'surplus' stocking above the scheduled fingerling stocking we're getting. Goody - extra hybrids!! Honestly though, a six day old hybrid fry looks like something a gizzard shad would eat. Ironic huh? They were loading them into a boat, then taking the boat out into the main lake to release in deep water to improve their odds of survival. Yesterday, me and the Baitmaster went out to target hybrids after work. We went looking for bait but it was not where it was last week.
