After attending the CCA Banquet in San Antonio on Thursday night and talkin' fishin' for 5 hours I was ready to do some fishin' when I got home Friday!! Baseball games Sat. afternoon had a Sunday launch on the agenda.
Sunday mornin' had an inch or so of rain dropped on us by some noisy thunderstorms around daybreak, but clear skies prevailed and so the hunt was on for a low tide phase wade.
With north winds prevalent decided to head to Morris Cummings Cut and it was "on" as soon as I hit the water.
So here I am trout fishing and .. the first fish I catch is a spanish mackeral right close to the bank. What's up with that ?
Several plugs later working the shallows on the way to the dropoff and guts for trout, nailed a nice 26" redfish.
Worked the guts, dropoffs and points during the low tide phase and ended up with a limit of trout that almost all were over the 20" mark. Several trout were in the 23" - 25" range.
In fact, one of them tried to splash me with some SaltH20 when I was taking the "offical" catch of the day stringer.

Called Mom and her boyfriend invited them over for supper, then the kids and the wife and I chowed down on some fresh fish crunchies !!
I started with the 1/8 oz. Pink/WE Rockport Rattler jig with dark plastics, then switched to the 1/8 oz. Chart/RE RR rattling jighead with a Plum/Chart. plastic.
I hope to get another wade fishin' trip in this week if the weather holds as we are in a strong low tide phase this week.

One of the good things about fishing the Rockport-Aranasa Pass Bay systems is that we live on a pennisula so you can find some place to fish no matter which way the wind blows !!
A fishin' Buddy of mine nailed some nice Trout, Flounder, and drum on Port Bay the day before on Saturday and he said he was headed there again, but I felt like the I had a better chance at a limit fishing MCC even though I was throwing against a north wind. Water was trout green and it was "Grab your stringer, .. It's On !!"
Had a porpoise run me into ankle deep water at one point trying to get my trout, so I had to lift them outta the water several times ... she circled me twice in that shallow water - once she raised her head outta the water and looked me right in the eyes as I held my trout chest high .. awesome experience !!
