I was wonder what the difference between the Platinum and the Premium chip is. I am getting the humminbird 997 and just wanted to get the right chip.

SK20i,

I bought the Premium (the 150 dollar one) because I didn't see the reason to pay 50 extra dollars for panoramic views of the lake, which is the only difference between the two chips from what i could surmise.

I figure coming from maps, compass and common sense, the Premium chip was just fine. I put one in my 788ci and love it!

I have the platinum on an hds7 and it has 3d views. Kinda nice when your sittin on a point or a creek channel and you can actually see ahead of you where your gonna throw your crank bait or your soft plastics to work a ledge good. Other that that I would save the 50 bucks and get the premium. Comes with the same maps and everything.
