Exactly what Ponderossa said I had 5 good slot fish on that set up saturday on Fork. Also same colors in a fluke are good too. Slow is the keyword in that also.

Guys,
When you fish it weightless, do you have to resort to using a spinning rod?
I have a lot to learn about using soft plastics because as a rule I have always tied some thing bigger on.
I will try it...
Thanks!

no i just use a regular baitcaster, the senko itself is pretty heavy so I don't have a problem throwing it

Another good option is the Berkely hevyweight on a baitcaster but there's nothing like a Senko !

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can rent you something so damn close you'll never be able to tell the difference.

You can fish most any plastic bait weightless on a baitcaster, you just have to adjust your tension control knob. I have no problems throwing a Senko or a Fluke on a baitcaster with 17-20# test line. +1000 on the slow. It was mentioned above about slow jerks, a lot of times I just drag it and take a drink, talk to my partner, read a book, organize my tackle. Then if I don't have anything else pressing to do, I drag it another foot or two and start the process all over. Get just as many bites or more with that presentation. Sometimes less is more, just sayin'.

senkos and flukes are no problem to throw on a baitcaster weightless, but if the wind is blowing,it can be frusrating trying to keep a feel of your bait, when its windy what i do is peg an 8th oz weight about 12-18 inches ahead of the bait(using a rubber t-stop).it lets the bait have the gliding action still but helps it stay near the bottom, its kind of like a finesse carolina rig.

wacky worm rigged with watermelon rattlesnakes for bucks/banks cruisers

and any texas craw or lizard drug around the first break where you see beds will get you some females.

I have a question. I was having a problem like this and i switched rods today but threw the same stuff and caught some. I was using 10lb line today and have been using 14lb. Sense the water is so clear would the line make a difference like that?

Line can make a differnce in clear water..I like to use a clear line when throwing baits that you are dead sticking...I will use the lightest I can get away with in flourocarbon.....

Me and a couple of freinds had over 27 fish with 1 that was 9lb. and a 7lb . All on watermelon chart. tail lizards and wacky worms also a couple on shallow cranks in 2-5 foot of water. The water was very off colored to muddy where we fished and there was no need for light line. But Slow down!

If you want to try something differiant, I have a killer weightless set-up. I use a 7 ft MH rod with a good spinning reel. Spool-it with 30lb yellow braid and use a 4 foot fluoro leader. The braid floats and the yellow makes it super easy to see. The leader sinks with the senko. Works great!
