Was at the lake Sat and my trim quit on me...... Got back to the ramp and managed to get it on the trailer BUT, I had to manualy release the trim so that I could lift the motor (ETEC225) and get it up the ramp.. (that's one heavy SOB, btw) Got it home and started checking things and found that when I tap on the relays or jiggle the wire it would act like it was trying to work.. I tightened the screw back up but the motor still won't move, at all. Does it need to be bled or something? I'm taking it back to the shop on Tues and will have them address this issue, along with the overheating horn going off....... Had a new powerhead put on and have been back to the shop everytime it's been in the water since.. Starting to question my mechanic....

Normally when you use the manual release it will not effect the system and does not need to be bled.
That release screw holds down a spring on the ball valve that is a pressure relief valve. Excess Hydraulic pressure is vented back into the TnT reservoir thru this valve ... like when the motor reaches full up or down and you still have your finger on the switch. Other wise it would blow the seals or burn up the pump motor.
It is most likely the relays.. have you tried swaping them to see which one is defective? Worse case the pump motor brushes or armature are worn.

thanks, I haven't tried swapping anything on this one. I'm not even totaly sure that I was looking at the right stuff, just wiggling wires and tapping something that looked like relays. I can work on my old motor but this new one is something else... As long as I have warranty, I'm not touching it. However, does it matter that I have a the motor in a different position than it was when I released it? It's up in the transom saver now, when I pulled it out it was at about 1/2 trim position... Does it need to be lowered back down and then started back up with the switch?

Should`nt matter where motor is. Normally after a powerhead change the problem will be a bad ground or a harness plug connection. GOOD LUCK
