I plan on heading out to Denton Creek Saturday morning. Anyone need a boat partner? I just about wore myself out last weekend paddling a solo canoe from Marshall Creek up past 377. I will need to bum a ride or hoof it back there on foot.

The temperature was 63 when I got in my truck for work this morning. It is warm, and we should get a bit of warm rain also. The pressure is rising and should stay up. Looks like it is time to make the trip. I plan on heading back there this weekend.

I know of several limits that have been caught over the last few days. Also saw 2 people with full stringers walking back to their cars yesterday as I passed by on my way home from work. The time is here.

Do any of y'all have any idea as to how far up the creek the fish are right now? Are they past the 377 bridge? I've only been up there by boat once. That was last year after the run had taken place. I just wanted to see if I could make it in my bass boat in preparation for this year's run. The reason I ask is that I don't want to spend hours fishing from the ramp to the 377 bridge if that area is unproductive.

Also, the water level seems high enough to get my bass boat in there. Have y'all noticed any other boats up there yet? What's the typical etiquite there as far as boaters driving by those fishing from the bank? Is the creek wide enough for those of us in boats to slowly cruise by those fishing on the bank without disturbing their fishing too terribly much?

Thanks,
Gary

I'd also be interested in whether people are catching fish East or West of 377. . .I was down there Saturday and caught 3 East of 377 about a mile in. . .planning on going back this Sunday with a couple of friends and would like information on which way to hike. . .FYI I caught my three on Sassy Shads, two were females of pretty good size. . .

Gary, the fish will be up past 377 this weekend. I paddled a canoe up there last weekend and was passed by over a dozen fishing boats. Most were jon boats but some were fiberglass fishing boats.

As far as etiquette goes, when passing bank fisherman and canoes, slow down to no wake speed and give a friendly wave.

Let me know if plan to go and would like some company. I can pay for boat gas and the launch fee out of Marshall Creek.

How much further West of 377 do you normally go for fish? Are there any landmarks up that way to let us novices know we are in the vicinity?

Got out today, 2 kids had full stringers, caught within 1.5 hours. Other fisherman had 4-5 fish. Most people were east of 377, lots of boats in the water, going under the rail bridge is a little tricky. One bass boat got hung up for a minute.

If you do try to go under the bridge BEWARE there is a large stump right beneath the surface in the middle of the creek. I have an alum. Basstracker so I have slide over no prob but some of you "rich guys" with big fancy fiberglass lookout. I am Thinking of heading out sunday if the weather stays somewhat clean. If you see a big (kinda bellied up) guy in a basstracker with a "lucky" camo canvas hat fishing by himself give me a hollar. If i am
by myself I would be happy to have one of the TFF guys in my boat anytime!!

Help Please! Where in the world is this great fishing spot named Denton Creek and East of 377. I live in Blue Ridge NE of McKinney, Tx. I would love to come out there and bring my two sons, ages 7 and 9 to get into some great Sand Bass action. They have heard me talk about it this whole year and now I want them to get in on it. Could anyone please give me specific directions to this great fishing hole? I am assuming it is near Denton TX on Lake Lewisville.
Thanks again.

I don't trust a catfisherman who doesn't have shad scales on his hands or his reels...period.

if you have a boat, go to Lake Grapevine...launch at Marshall Creek Boat ramp in Marshall Creek Park, then head up the creek north west about 3 miles or so untill you hit the first bridge - that's 377...

Thanks a lot for the info guys! Especially the warning about the stump in the middle of the creek under the bridge! I really appreciate that...

Hey PowerLizard, I'm actually not going this weekend. Instead, I'm headed down to my Dad's place outside of Madisonville for some Trinity River whitebass action way up above Lake Livingston almost to the Centerville lock and dam.

I was planning on going to Denton creek on Monday with a good friend of mine and his wife. However, depending on weather, etc..., I may be going again next weekend. If so, I'll let you know.

Again... thanks a lot for the info!

Take care!
Gary
