how do u know if the oil pump on ur outboard motor is working or not???

Well since there are 3 major brands of outboard which one, what year and what HP?

Gonna need a little more to work with since I can't see that far... in the dark.

One thing is for sure with All brands.. when the pump stops injecting oil bad things happen quickly.

its a 94 mariner 135hp. it makes me nervous not knowing!! haha

Those engines are not known for having oil pump problems that I am aware of?

if you have doubt about it put a pint of oil to every 6 gals gas mark a line where the oil is in the oil tank in the boat run it a while then check to see if the oil is below the mark better to be safe than sorry thanks steve

If you want the peace of mind, just get it disconnected and pre mix. It may not be known to fail on that engine (I have no idea), but that is kind of an older motor. It only takes a few seconds of no oil to really mess things up.
