Guys-

I recently had to have an emergency surgery for a detached retina. The procedure was roughly one month ago, and I'm still recovering. All that being said, here is my problem....

I am extremely light sensative. I'm having to wear sunglasses while driving and even while at my desk in the office. The fishing season will be kicking off soon for me and I need recommendations on 'HIGH END' quality eye protection. I'm currently wearing solar bats, but they are not doing the trick. I need something that will let no light in whatsoever. Can you help?

Doesn't strike me as very funny what the guy has a serious problem he is trying to deal with. Maybe thats just me tho.

several of the upper end glasses companies are offering glasses with little sponge type attachments that keep the sun from coming in around the space between the glasses and your face. They have developed this for sight fishing purposes. I know costa offers them and i have a pair of seven eyes with them. go to your favorite brands website and see what they offer.

1+...painful stuff right there. It will put a grown man to his knees!

I would look for the darkest tint you can find. Wiley X also double as safety glasses. You might look that route.

Open your eyes & look within, are you satisfied with the life youre living.

No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.

Get googles that are dark. You can always use the ones they give you after surgery

3 choices
They are in order by $ cost

Go to a welding supply company and get you a pair of oxygen acytelene cutting glasses.

Go to PEP Boys and buy some window tint and apply to your sun glasses to double up. You can peel it off when you feel better.

Fish at night cool

Polycarbonate lenses are supposed to be shatter proof.

Sir, take it from a person who does "that sort of thing" everyday. Go ask your DOCTOR! Are you sure you should be bouncing in 3 ft waves in a bass boat, let alone fishing. You only have two, make sure your DOCTOR clears you before you worry about fishing.

Yes, FZ1 Poly is shatter-proof, but light sensitvity is the least of your concerns.

First off, Fish Killer may have been serious. I don't see a rolling smiley. I agree with Mo4packer, don't just ask him if fishing is OK. He may not fish and not know how you fish. Fishing may be OK but not running like a banshee in 3-4' going airborne, etc. If he clears you the glasses with sponges sounds like the way to go. If you don't care what they look like the welding goggles would be the ticket. The lenses arent polarized but the lenses are replaceable and you can get different tints in them. Good luck sir and I hope you make a full recovery.
