Been going to palestine every now and then and it is either hit or miss. More misses though. What is the best sandbass lake near tyler for me to take a 9 year old to get some numbers?

Our last few trips to Tawakoni have all been good. Just watch for the 70 MPH bass fishermen. They will get real close.

Now, you can go to either lake and look for birds more so on RC or surfacing fish as well lots of places to look. CC you can find them slabbing in deepwater 20 to 30ish around humps, or hopefully they will surface.

For the best action for your son and constant fun, I would say RC.

i have been out to the lake lewisville sand bass cut 8 times the past week and a half and have done excellent every time. if the cut gets crowded, try the other cut over by westlake park. I would definitly recommend these cuts. using ghost minnows caught in my seine and very small silver slabs catch fish pretty much every cast. chartruse grubs were catching them the other day. all the sandies are filled with ghost minnows...very few shad. the boat traffic is heavy through these areas, but it does not seem to matter. catchin fish while wavin at chicks in bikinis works for me....as long as the fish keep biting good luck...if you do not know where these locations are you can easily find them on a lake lewisville map or ask any fishman on the lake....take it easy good luck

Where is Sand Bass Cut on Lake Lewisville? I would certainly like to know. I am a bank fisherman and around this time last year, fellows were doing well on Sand Bass on points using ghost minnows. It was wierd. I had never heard much about Sandies going for ghost minnows.

Please tell this out of town boy, where the 'cuts' are located.

I'd hit Tawakoni......

Schooling fish are easy to find early and late and during the day slabbing usually picks up some fish somewhere.

Trolling in mid summer is a gimmie, best lake around in my opinnion. You can easily launch on both the south or north sides of the lake to play the wind. It's only about 45-55miles from Tyler coming off 69 from Emory or I-20/US80 from Edgewood.

There are lots of stripers and hybrids when the time is right also...

Seigrist,the cuts are in the old dam seperating Old Lake Dallas with what is now called Lake Lewisville. There is also the 121 cut coming from the Coloney side, it has great results as well. I'm not sure but I think the first cut at the old dam is the only one you can get to by bank. I only fish Lewisville by boat so I could be wrong. If you tell me what part of the lake you are fishing I might be able to point you in the roght direction. Good Luck and hope this helps.

Tawakoni is choke full of sandies and I mean magnum sized ones, not these dink people are catching at area lakes, all u have to do is run the points and look for birds, surfacing action, or about 20 other boats, all the action right now is fairly shallow off points and early in the morning to about 9-9:30 and later in the evening, flat out there is no better sand bass lake!!!!!!

Seigrist, Falcon is right about the cuts. You can only access one by bank. I have fished it at from Westlake Park, which is just north of Arrowhead Park. I wasn't having much luck but some guys down the way from us were killing them. I finally asked what they were using and they gave me a whole cup of ghost minnows. Our luck changed after that. I went out and bought a seine that same weekend. This was last year, but they said if you ever find ghost minnows, you're set.
We usually fish near the swimming beach and have done okay. Those guys were using 9 foot surf rods and about 2 oz. weights to get them way out there. They said it makes a huge difference.
