currently i have a 4" jack plate, i am considering adding a 2" spacer to it. what will this give me? speed? help with the chime? better in rough water? anyone have any thoughts on this.
any advice would be great...

What kind of boat, motor, and prop are you running? What speed are you getting now and what rpm can you turn with your motor? What is "the chime"?

Disagree, Only installing and testing will determine if it is going to work or not. Some boats the hole shot and top end will deminish.

and what do you mean by spacers? doing it wrong ie adding shims or bushings will change the pressure points on the transom, instead of spread out it will be focused and thats not good.
