Has anyone had any experience down at Nolan River Park just past Blum? Friend of mine told me about it cause he used to fish there in his youth. I pulled it up on Bing maps and saw the satellite image of it. Looks quite fish friendly.

You mean the one down the lime plant road? Its more or less an abandoned park that is not well maintained by the Corps. I've spent a lot of time there myself. Good crappie fishing from the banks of the coves, and catfish fishing in the river/coves. Decent access, but when its muddy the roads are 4x4 only, in my opinion. I wouldnt try and launch a boat there unless you've been with someone who knows where to go.

There used to be a couple camps of river rats down there that I ran trotlines and drank beer with. Good people, but I think the Corps/Game Wardens ran them off.

Its a pretty isolated place to fish, the game warden does come down occasionally because it is NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING and they've been trying to keep that area free from squatters and ATV enthusiasts who tear up the roads.

Overall, great place to fish. If you check it out, post back a report!

During the sand bass run you may want to look up stream a bit and on the other side of the river. I'm not sure what the call it but if you take FM933 south out of Blum you will find a creek and bridge that cross 933. On Google maps it looks like its about 2 miles south of Blum. You can park just before the bridge and walk to the river. I hear during the sand bass run there are lots of cars parked there. It’s a very scenic spot to fish. Here is a map of the area.

It's off of 1104 I believe. The map looks like it's pretty isolated. Probably go out there in the next couple weeks.

you may want to call the s.o. dept. before parking on 933, the area is posted and fenced across now..access is bad.

I would try going to the bridge in Blum and trying just south of that bridge. Caught stripers there one year when the water was up.

Go through Blum, turn on 933. Follow it about 2-3 miles out of town. Park just off 933, as close to the Bridge as you can get. Do not block the roadway. It's probably muddy, so 4 X 4 might be good. Walk down the side of the road to the creek under the bridge, turn right and follow the creek to the river. Go down river about 1/4 mile...look for shallows, etc. with the water up, the fishing should be very very good.

yes, If you follow "rock creek"(at the bridge) it will run right into the Nolan.
I would turn right at the nolan and go upstream to the rocky bank area which is about a half mile upstream.

QBPOP: The CR is 1104, but the more obvious sign will be the sign for the lime plant down the road. Its about 3 miles down a dirt road to get to the park, and there are no signs that say "Nolan River Park" or anything like that. You'll just see some of that rusty piped Corps fencing and some dirt roads that dont look like driveways headed in the direction of the river. Some really nice looking river down there. Let me know how it goes.

Have you ever fished there Trout Bum? Just looking for new places to fish that's reasonably easy to get to.
