Bolivar Chamber Of Commerce Announces Fishing Tournament
Over $3000 Dollars in Cash Prizes and Goodies to be Awarded to top Fishermen.


What�s better than catching a stringer of trout, redfish and flounder?? Getting prize money AND landing the fish. The Bolivar Chamber of Commerce has announced their Spec�s Saltwater Bolivar Slam Fishing Tournament!

What a great way to highlight the fishery on Bolivar Peninsula. Fishermen have been doing very well and I am seeing some pictures of some big fish on the bragging boards. This is an opportunity for those that know where the fish are and have been taking some big fish to cash in on the skill and knowledge that it takes to bring a big fish to boat.

Included in each entry fee is a ticket to the awards ceremony and BBQ dinner at the well known Stingaree Restaurant. Live music will be provided by the fine folks from Glazer Foods. The Tournament is hosted by Stingaree Marina& Restaurant and Coconuts Restaurant and Bar. Registration for the tournament ends May 14th with the tournament taking place on May 22, 2010. Tournament boundaries are the surf from High Island @ HW 124 West to and around Bolivar Point, East Bay and the Galveston bay system. Entries can begin from their preferred launch or beach access. Tournament will begin at daylight May 22.

The official weigh in will be hosted by the Bolivar Fishing Club between Noon and 3:00PM at Stingaree Marina. That should be plenty of time to see some of the best anglers of the East Bay and the Surf Masters bring some big fish into the official weigh station. Prizes and goodies are valued at over$3,000 including $1,500 for the top prize. There is also a hardhead division for young anglers. Additionally, a pre-tournament bash and registration session will take place Friday May 21, 2010 beginning at 6:00 PM at Coconuts Restaurant and Bar with live music. Attendance at the Bash is recommended but not required for those with time constraints. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

You don�t want to miss this tournament so make some calls, get your buds together and bring your �A� game to take part in a fishing tournament that highlights the best game fish in the bay and surf. The persistence and skill that die-hard bay fisherman are required to have to be a master of the craft can be put to some financial gain with this contest. Not only that but this may be the last, best excuse we can use this fishing season for calling in sick on a Saturday .
