I have to say that the Hell/Pet Combo has been the greatest thing to come along for our fishing in a long time. My son has had a blast cranking in the Sandies.

My question is do you use it twelve months out of the year? Or is trolling just a summer thing?

Thanks,
DannyB

Nope, I don't.

Fish are too shallow in early spring and late fall. Too many hangups.

Winter you have to really slow presentations down. Not too many fish are going to go after a Pet Spoon going 3 MPH.

You can still use the Pet Spoon, just cast it instead of trolling it.

I only go to the HellPet when I am having trouble finding fish, they just aren't biting anything else or I am in a hurry to get some (fish fry). Otherwise I fish normally.

Not sure of the exact water temperature, somewhere around 70 or so, but on Grapevine you are just wasting gas to keep trolling for sandies. That at least has been my experience.

I did not start trolling this year until late June and will stop in a couple of weeks. I look forward to being to sit on a spot with trolling motor in water and limit on Whites quickly with slabs.

Hey Sharon,

This has been the most fun hard work I have done in a while---taking fish after fish off my son's line.

I took my son and his buddy, both seven years old, to Tawakoni not long ago and took forty seven Sandies off their lines.

As a matter of fact I think that if the forecast holds up that this afternoon may have an identical weather situation as when the boys did so well. It started raining fifteen minutes after we quit.

Since they are out of school here tomorrow we may just make another run at them today. I won't have to ask him twice if he wants to go.

DannyB
