Does anyone have any good stories or able to shed some info on how the night fishing is on Ray Hubbard during the summer? Any monsters being caught? Does anyone night fish Hubbard?

Night fishing can be good on hubbard. But it is just like fishing anywhere else. Got to be in the right place at the right time!

River is over rated. More tournaments have been won south of I30 than North!

Yep...The river is over-rated. The only time I fish there is during and after a front. River fish aren't affected by either. Marinas and the Rip-Rap is where it is at.

You can do some Monday night tournies with CABA. Its a great time and a bunch of nice guys.

Something a little fishy about Skeeterronnie knowing so much about Tommy Climer and nightime...hmmmmmmm

And the river at night in summer is quite an adventure. Snakes in the boat, gators and hogs, mosquitos like helicopters, all kinds of strange stuff.

Thats what I mean!!"

"He's a beast out there" ...lol

Seroiusly, I find Hubbard to be one of the worst nightime lakes I have ever fished.I love night fishing and don't even like to go in the daytime on Fork. But Hubbard....not that good at night.

Pintail man - You got that right. I have fished Ray Hubbard alot through the years. It is a good night lake but the fish will hit real good in an area one night and you can go back to the area 3 or 4 times later and not get a bite. You have to really move around looking for them, there doesn't seem to be area's that you can go to night after night and consistantly catch them, at least not for me. My favorite baits are black spinnerbaits and flipping 10" worms or Craws or CrawTubes in shallow water and Carolina rigging 10" worms in deeper water. But then again that is my normal technique's on any lake.

Yes, gotta love that 10 inch worm at night. Yes there have been some big fish caught at night. Our biggest last year at night was 9lbs. Just a matter of being there when they move up. Just because you catch them there one night doesn't mean they will be there the next night. It also helps to fish brush pile at night!

I have caught some huge bass out there in the spring when i used to live out there by bank fishing for them. In spring hit the coves and marinas hit the rocks and weeds. Bank fishing of course never weighed or pics to prove but have caught bass that i guessed at over 10 in the spring with a whole bunch of 4-7lbers. And almost all were caught from the bank in the spring, Night fishing was always hit and miss like others have said. At night i mainly used hilderbrandt colrado black spinnerbaits and creature baits and lizards next to cover. I havent fished that spot in years for bass so it may have changed as far as producing fish and possibly even the grass out away from the bank where the pre and post spawn fish stayed at may not even be there anymore, but i do know their is some big bass in that lake and have had some of them hooked bigger then 10 that i thought anyway that never made it to the bank.
Also try and find points at night with brush on them from the crappie fisherman and also some natural trees underwater still in the lake in very close to some points that can be good at dark.
Mark
