You ask, you shall receive. This is my Olive Woolly Bugger I tie for Broken Bow, The Lower Mountain Fork River. I usually add a bit more flash, but this should get you started!

start with the hooks.

the beads

the thread

start the base

marabou (olive)

tie on the marabou, and make the tail the same length as the hook

tie it down really good or use a dab of glue so the base will not twist on the hook

put some flash evenly around the hook and tail

secure it down

olive chenelle

tie it down right where the marabou stops

wrap it towards the eye of the hook and tie down

get some olive hackle, one feather

at the tip of the feather lightly pinch it and pull down twisting lightly. this will make the hairs stick str8 out

tie down at the base of the hook where the marabou stops

wrap it forwards and tie off at the eye of the hook

pinch the feathers back towards the back end of the fly and make a few wraps near the eye of the hook so the feathers lay down a bit pointing towards the tail.

whip finish. i always do two whip finishes to make sure it wont unravel.

Wait a minute. I corrected my typing from booger to bugger before I hit the submit button.

Thanks Carey. That was a great tutorial, especially for the newer folks. I like seeing all your best producing flies. Plus it gets me in the mood to do some tying too...lol.

i wish i had brought my vise back to school. i didn't know you could pinch and pull the hackle to make it flare like that, that will probably help me with my buggers some.

That ought to get 'er done. Tying woolly buggers and fishing woolly buggers - two satisfying and simple things. Simple is good smile

thanks Carey
