It all depends on the weather. If it's nasty, launch up the Tiger or shoot across from Beacon up the Salado.
It's a big lake with lots of places to fish. The first time out will be a learning expierence.

In general, I like to fish from mid lake on north this time of year. I don't usually go south until late April. I always look shallow first, and then move out to deeper water if I don't get bit. Big plastics are king, with crankbaits and spinnerbaits a close 2nd and 3rd. Most of the time you can get bites on watermelon/something or plum. Be sure to use strong line, 20lb mono minimum and 50+ braid is better, and a stout rod. You may have to flip into the middle of some gnarly stuff to get bit. Look for a mix of wood and rocks/gravel.
X2 on stopping in a Falcon Tackle. They can bring you up to date on the latest info. Be safe, watch out for the wind, and have a great trip.

Will probably be out there the 16th and 17th in either a white/black Triton 20X3 or a white Champion 182... Probably fishing the US side from the Velleno up north. Holler if you see us.

man im gonna have to make a list of all these boats to say hi to! we are staying at oso as well! blue and white vip bass boat. see yall there. also, is there much to worry about hitting with my boat while cruising the lake or do i need to stick to the channels? Most lakes if you cant see anthing sticking out of the water you are USUALLY ok to go through. hows bout falcon?

most of the lake is open water or brush, there are some hardwoods but they are pretty easy to spot. there are a few flats with hardwoods that could possibly hurt a lower unit but not that many. just dont run thru the brush if its over ur bow bc it will break off and hit u in the face, lol

Yeah, if you're on the Mexico side watch out for nets. Sometimes they're hard to spot and they're tangling up sumbeeches if you hit one with your trolling motor. I also either trim my big motor up or at least put the shifter into gear so the prop isn't spinning as your troll along.
