Charlie-- you would have just as much luck (maybe more) asking for a date with a crappie fishermans wife than for locations of his favortite brush pile. Search them out with your depthfinder or put out your own piles. Shortcuts are hard to come by. Good luck MO

JUST ASSUME THAT THE FINAL ACCESSORY THAT YOU NEED ON YOUR BOAT IS A TRIP WITH A LOCAL CRAPPIE GUIDE. IT WILL PROVE TO BE THE BEST MONEY THAT YOU HAVE INVESTED. MO IS CORRECT, NO ONE IS GOING TO SHARE THE EXACT LOCATION OF THEIR PERSONALLY BUILT OR FOUND BRUSH PILES EXCEPT A GUIDE THAT IS BEING PAID TO DO THAT VERY THING. ONE TRIP SHOULD TEACH YOU ENOUGH TO FIND THEM AND ALSO HOW TO CATCH THE FISH WHEN YOU DO. GOOD LUCK. ------------------ GOOD FISHING. ERNEST"I LIVE FOR THE THUMP"

I would start with the obvious. 1. Main lake points. 2.Boat docks with mounted fishing lights. 3.Secondary points in coves 4.Markers along rip rap. Your just gunna have to do a little riding around. Find a pile...if nothing there...find another etc... Good luck with the new boat!Just my 2 cents.

I'm fairly new to fishing. Another way you can find brush piles is with binoculars. Just snorkel around till you see one. Just kidding. One way to do it is just cruise the lake. When you see someone parked do a drive by. If they have a marker in the water or you see them pulling up fish, bingo, there is your new honey hole. I have found a few brush piles doing that.
Here is a good example. What sealed the deal on fishing with me is my fianc and myself just bought a boat March last year, had no idea what we were doing. We saw these two guys parked on the island on Lavon on the shoal area. They were pulling sand bass out the water left and right but we werent catching jack. I waited till they left and went for that exact spot; we took home about 25 sandies that day. I hit that same spot now and then and I do catch a few.
I agree with Earnest about taking a guide out. We have taken Jerry Hancock out 3 times this year and I did the crappie seminar he gave. I have learned a lot that other wise I would have no clue about. Just like in the spring I had no idea you could catch fish in a bush that was haning over into the water 2 deep. Who would have ever thought to stick your pole in a bush and drop a jig, but it works.

Anybody who drive a blue wave cant be all bad. First I have to agree with Ernest. Money well spent. I would ask the guide to show you as many locally known spots as time allows. Since you are local, he is less likely to show you his personal best spots. He will reserve those for repeat clients and clients he is sure will not be sitting on that spot the time he wants to fish it. Second, I have never fished the lakes you mentioned so I dont know if there is any standing timber or bridges worth fishing. I catch more crappie from these type structures than brush piles. Good Luck MO (22bluewave)
