Well, I haven't fished as hard as I did today in awhile. Went all the way from Big Rocky Creek to the Nolan River looking for birds and fish and ended the day landing 2 fish, one nice 25 inch striper.

Started the day a Cedron Bluffs and found some small birds working. It was like playing keep away though because as soon as I'd work my way over to the birds they'd move somewhere else. Got tired of chasing them around and worked my way up to the river and had no success there either working a sassy shad under birds.

Pretty down at this point, I headed back down the lake to find A HUGE group of birds working. Threw out a slab and immediately got some strikes and then pulled in an undersized striper. Kept going but switched over to a striper jib so I could get the hook off faster and BAM got a real good keeper. That was it though.

Made a couple of stops on the way back at some structure and graphed fish but couldn't get strikes. Overall a rewarding day with the nice striper but would like to catch more in the future. Anyone have suggestions on fishing the sassy shads?

No movement - deadstick the sassy shad down close to the bottom. What was the water temp? If it's under 50, deadstick - deadstick - deadstick. Let sassy down on bottom, reel up about 3-4 cranks and hold it still. Wait for the *thunk* but be ready to set the hook.

Turn big motor off - use electric.

So you don't even jig the bait at all? You just let it sit there while you drift?
