I know there are some opinions out there on this but would like to see what knott everyone uses for leaders.

Today I use double uni knott ok but the floro and mono can cut the braid.

Tried nail knott but floro or mono will slip.

trying to find a low profile knott for the eyes in the rod

Try a surgeon's knot.

???? I've been using this for years and have never "cut the braid" with fluoro. I've landed some big fish in heavy cover using a 15lb flouro leader / 20 lb braid mainline on spinning tackle using the uni - uni knot.

Not trying to hijack the topic, but y'all must have some real clear water there to need a floro leader.

Someone fishing right next to me at Monticello Tuesday caught a fish they weighed, photogaghed and released a pig that went just under 9lbs. That fish didnt mind his braided line. Probably wouldnt have caught it with any thing less for line as he had to go and get it out of a tree with his net. Makes you think!

I don't know what it's called but I cross the two lines and on each side i tie an improved cinch and then hold the tag ends in my mouth and cinch them together. It's worked fine for leaders on braid for me.

I use a blood knot. However, I tie with 9 wraps each way... completely eliminates the chance of failure.

Regarding clear water, often it has nothing to do with water clarity. I use mono leader as a shock absorber. I no longer break lines, hooks, or fish faces on the hook set!

The only problem I have had, while experimenting with a leader, is that the Braid cuts the FLUORO. So I use a palomar knot on the Fluoro and a clinch or regular knot on the Braid.
No failures yet. But if the water is not severe clear then I just stick with no leader.

If you were going to use something like this, why not just use a swivel? Same thing and would help with line twist.

Swivel to big for pole eyes stick and hang up thinking something like a number 8 size on the design above. This would make it through the pole eyes with little to no issues.

Been using leaders for a little over 20 years, for both trout (fly rod) and Bass fishing. Trout fishing resolved this issue years ago with something that looks like this O----- fits in the end of the fly line no knot's needed.

Just would be nice to have something to make it easier.

20 lb and less flouro leader I use a blood knot. 25 lb and larger flouro leader I use an Albright knot. Wet both very well when synching up and then coat with super glue. Once dry cut tag ends flush to knot. You do not always need a leader but in clearer water you will get more bites with a leader.

Thanks for the feed back was trying to stay out of the leader debate like saying the only way you will catch fish is to use only a crainkbait.

You have to fish what you are comfortable with

I have a line tester will try these and let you know the results

I know a double mail knot the braid will break before anything, but a little bulky for me, through the guides

I don't use no leader knot 'cause I don't use no leaders.
