I know its illegal to sell crappie but is it legal to trade it for some deer meat? If it is legal, any takers? I wouldnt mind having some sausage with jalapeno's and cheese to throw on the grill.

I give my friend Crappie and he gives me red fish and trout. I don't see anything wrong with it.

what kind of a police state has this country become., when a workin man has to ask if its Ok to trade a little food.? IS THIS WHAT OUR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY HAS BEEN REDUCED TO? Sorry , im not trying to hijack this post, or incite political and civil unrest, but this is ridiculous. Whats next? will we have to keep records of all of the food we catch or kill and turn it in every year?

I have a few Cuban friends that were raised in Cuba until Castro and his cronies took their ranches and houses (just after they outlawed firearms). Now they say you cannot hunt or fishfor anything, it all belongs to castro and govt.

Look out. Dont give em more control

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

So, leanin post, you want to open up Crappie to commercial harvest? The no-sell laws are there to protect the resource, not to make you feel uncomfortable. Broaden your viewpoint to see the reasoning behind the law.

No., I didnt say anything about opening up crappie to commercial harvesting. thats quite a leap you made . I only think it should be ok to swap food. It is our god given right. this is OUR country, not the GOVERMENTS country. The little man is the one who makes the sacrifices and fights the wars, not the politicians and thier precious sons. (who get to go to college instead of places like vietnam) . My point is this. You better keep your eyes open, if you value your way of life. I WAS NOT in any way trying to even suggest that crappie should be sold commercially, I was only bringing attention to the fact that there is a good man on here, that because of the oppressive nature of the laws in this country, has to actually ask if its ok to trade a little food.

Fisherwood, I also see that you are an avid CARP angler, do you support the huge mistake the government made by introducing carp into this country. As of now, the carp are taking over most of the lakes in this country. They are spending millions trying to keep them out of the great lakes, and they have predicted it is only a matter of time. Once the carp get in the great lakes, they will take over. Did anyone get to vote on this before they brought the nasty, disgusting carp in our country and turned them loose? The people who turned them loose here are supposed to be protecting our resources right? Where was the wildlife experts at then? Ps please catch and eat all of the carp that you can, it might buy the crappie a little time.!!!
