Got off work today and me and my son Chase headed out to the lake with uncle Chad while mommy was at a 8 month doc appointment checkup for the little one. Found some good gizzard shad with some small ones mixed in in about 16 ft. Our first plan was to drift through the balls of shad I went across and we did so for about 45 minutes. I even fished small baits just so he could reel one in but we didn't catch squat. Well after that we decided to go with what I knew best and did some shallow fishing since the wind was pretty decent.

The bite was great and the quality was even better. He go to reel in about 3 fish with some help and after that the good ones moved in. We quickly ditched our small shad for some "Larry sized baits". The bite was pretty good right up until it got dark and we had to go. Chase wanted no part of the bigger fish we were bringing in and it took about 4 or 5 before we could get him close enough for a picture. Although he wasn't scared of the hybrid at all. Fun times and a pretty good first catfish trip for the little man. All fish released to be caught again next time out.
