Does anyone know anything about either lake?
Bass fishing good, great etc. Lakes ok to run? Any good structure, grass, pads, reeds etc. Boat ramps safe?
Thanks, Toads

Both lakes have pads, but Crocket has pads, reeds, and milfoil. The bass fishing is good, we have always done pretty decent when we make the trip up there.
You can run sections of coffee mill, the area around the ramp is pretty clear but as you go away from the ramp around the big point on the right I'd shut down and idle. Lots of timber just under the water, and its hard as a rock. Also there are a few T Posts way up by where the creek dumps in.
Crockett is pretty much wide open, what you see is what you get.

Never had any problems in the parking lots, they have usually been pretty much empty every time I have been there. The ramp on Ciffee Mill is a little different, you will know what I mean when you see it, nothing to worry about just different.

Yeah I checked both locations out recently and seen the ramp looked a little steep for the most part.

As stated before, Coffee Mill looks just like it's name. It is definitely a dirty lake. If you fish Coffee, fish the first cove to the right of the ramp. In the back of that cove, it will branch off. Fish that whole area. Towards the dam, there is a small break out in the middle. It is only about a foot and a half drop but it holds fish. Making a run up the lake, there will be a bigger arm on the right side. Fish the left bank as you are going into that arm. There will be timber and reeds on that bank.
Crockett used to have a bunch of hydrilla in it. Don't know what the grass situation looks like right now as I haven't been in awhile. Always did good on frogs and small plastics pitched in the open areas in the grass. Speed craws around the dam area have produced fish as well. You should have a good time on either lake as they are both fisherman friendly lakes.

Guys thanks for the information. I plan to visit both lakes soon to just fish something different. Love fishing the east Texas lakes.
We all know anything off or close to I-30 can't be beat!

Easy enough to go fish a 1/2 day on each. Crockett is very basic, grass & more grass. Clearer water due to all the grass. Did I mention it has grass... : ) Coffee Mill has a lot more to it, very different from each other.
