Got a note from Al yesterday in which he said that the treatment of his brain cancer had been successful and he had been released by the doctor who was treating him for that.

I don't know if that means he's completely out of the woods or not, because that isn't the only cancer he has. But I think that was the most immediately threatening.

I think he's planning on attending Oktoberfisch.

i hung out with al all weekend at octoberfisch. he looks great, considering all he has been through. they tried to stuff him with great food this weekend, and he gladly participated. gave casting lessons most of the day saturday, and was one of the first ones down for breakfast burritos every morning!! he even stayed late one night around the campfire. was great to see him around!!

Al is scheduled to join us as a River Helper at the Casting for Recovery retreat in Glen Rose in a couple of weeks. I hope to see him there.

Leave to Al to be working at a Casting For Recovery event when most in his situation would be attendees!
