This ice storm is giving me cabin fever. Now, it's probably going to take forever for the water to warm up. bummer.

Doug, I guess that today is just going to be a duplicate of yesterday. We have read fihing articles from past magazines, watched every fishing show on tv,and today I'm going to clean reels and put on new line. We have digital cable and it offers nothing after watching a full day. CABIN FEVER !!! Sharon

Just be thankful you don't live up north where it can begin snowing in October and continue until May. I lived in northern Idaho for two winters. It sucked. And yes, cabin fever can and does affect a persons mental condition. It has to do with the limited amount of light that a person is subjected to on a daily basis. That is why they recommend turning on your home lights for a certain amount of hours per day. Cabin fever did affect me. I had to leave that climate. ------------------ Ed Utley "Catch and Reheat" - Don't Let A Nice Piece Of Bass Go To Waste"

No, I could not handle living up north where the fishing season doesn't start till May. By then, I've been fishin' 20 or 30 times. However, I did get out in the back yard today & practice the Ernest Paty "slingshot" technique with my ultralite. Kinda fun watching the jig slide across the ice.

I also need to practice with that technique. I watched Jimmy Houston doing it on tv last Saturday on the docks at CC. I ordered an ultra-light rod and reel from BassPro and when it arrives I will need to practice. I hope it is as easy as those guys made it look. ------------------ Ed Utley "Catch and Reheat" - Don't Let A Nice Piece Of Bass Go To Waste"

Ernest showed us this technique at his seminars. Ultralite spinning rod & reel with a crappie jig tied on. Open the bail & hold the line next to the rod with your index finger (right hand). With about 2-3 feet of line hanging down from the end of your rod tip, grab the jig so the point of the hook is away from you. Pull the jig toward you until there is a good bend in your rod, then let go so it "shoots" the jig to your target. Good for getting your jig under docks to the fish. Hope this makes sense.
