TFF'ers,

Question on my jack plate. How do I know if the jack plate is set properly? I'm thinking I could use a little adjustment not sure though.

What happens if the jack plates is to high or to low?

Any help or tips would be great.

Thanks,
Toads72

Every boat is a little different and then you throw in props and low water pickup or not. Give us some info: jack plate type, jack plate depth, boat length and prop size, type and pitch. Do you have trim extenders. I normally start with bullet of lower unit 3&1/2 in. below the pad of the boat and adjust from their. Watching the water pressure real close. Keep in mind that you can adjust it all over the place and not see much change if you do`nt have the correct prop. Steve will be the one to narrow that down. Whwn jack plate is high you have cavitation problems, loose water pressure and when too low boat will be sluggish with slower top end.

too high and the prop will blow out and turn the boat around... yep, i've done that several times.
you can go to my web site and click on prop shaft height and read it and set yours accordingly.

Thanks for the info, I'll do some checking and get back to ou with my findings.

After reading your website Steve that makes since and thinking about it I'm probably pretty close after all.
