Look for a boat mechanic to check it out before purchase. You are looking at cleaning and repairing the fuel system, oil system and cooling system. You could be looking at a lot of electrical work if boat has been stored with the battery connected. Look for signs of mice eating on the wiring. Look at titles to see if clear and correct.

What Gary said and check the following:
Compression test - All cylinders should be within a few points of one another Transom Integrity-tilt the engine and push down hard with all your weight on the lower unit look for flex in the transom Batteries probably have to be replaced. Charge them and then have them load tested at your local parts store. Fuel should be drained and replaced Fuel Filters and spark plugs replaced Water pump kit installed Steering Cable and throttle cables may be stiff and require replacement Lower unit check for metal pieces stuck to the magnet on the bottom LU oil drain

3 deal-breakers: bad compression, soft transom, no titles.
