What weight line are y'all tournament (and non tourny) using for bass fishing? I figured since the stakes are high in tournament fishing the last thing you want is a fish to break off. So what are yall using? 20lb braid?

Depends on the lake-size of fish-trees-grass-ect.Have rods rigged with everything from 10# mono to 80 # braid.Different lures require different lines and weights.

Pretty much sum's it up. It all depends on what you are doing. Not all tournament fishermen fish with 20lb test. General rule of thumb is use the biggest line you can get bites with. Heavier line reduces the action of baits. (generally) BUT, sometimes you need the heavy line to get them up and out, so you trade off. Open water not much structure then try 12-17lb with a med/light drag setting, or maybe even go to 8-10 with a looser drag setting.

20# silver thread on every rod every time, tourney or not.

17lb mono up to 80lb braid just depending on the bait an the structure along with a half dozen others

20lb braid on a spinning rod mabbey, 50 on most everything else

I pretty much stick 14# flouro...

35 lb power pro braid on baitcasters. 8 or 10 on finesse spinning.

15 lb Halo on everything except my c-rig which has 40lb braid

50lb braid on my heavy tackle then anywhere from 12lb. mono to 25lb copolymer and fluoro depending on what im fishing with and that cover im fishing...

Not a tourney fisherman but still like to get them in the boat. 50 lb. braid and 17# copoly.

I�m liking 30 lb braid with a 20 lb flouro leader for fishing with plastics or jigs off of the bottom or in tree/bush tops. Seems to be the best combo of toughness, feeling bites/bottom and invisibility. I�ve been asked why I would fish a lighter leader then my main line � this is my thought, when I�m getting a fish in the boat, it�s not just at the point of the fish that is getting wrapped around bushes, grass, etc., it could be 20 feet up the line.

With this set-up I have the most confidence getting fish out of cover, rarely do I just break-off.

30lb braid with a 6ft, 12lb leader on a dock skipping spinning rod.
20lb with a 12lb leader on c-rigs.
15lb for spinnerbaits.
15lb on t-rigs and jigs.
60lb braid for pads.

Fork I go heavier and Texoma I go lighter.

I fish w/ 12lb, 15lb and 20lb big game, braid and 10lb flouro on my spinner rods.
