I was just curious...I want to get some crappie in my pond so I have been catching them at Lake Lewisville and trasporting them in my bucket with an aerator. I have made a commitment to myself to break no laws concerning wildlife this year because it isn't worth damaging the chances of future generations fishing/hunting opportunites (excluding trespassing to get to a good fishin hole). Anyway, my questions are: is it illegal to transfer fish from a lake to a pond (the pond is public). The fish are under 10 inches. I wanted to find a warden, and I'm sure I will see them this weekend, but I'd rather hear from ya'll then hear from him and get a fat ticket. Also, how many crappie should I put in a acre and a half size pond to start off? Thanks a lot!

I would say yes it is illegal to have undersized fish in your possesion period.

And im sure there are other issues like disease etc... that could be spread as well.

Seeing as it is a public pond again another reason I would say it is illegal.

If it was a private pond you could just pay to have it stocked.

If they are under 10"dont show them to the warden, the only time you can be in possesion of fish under 10" is jan-feb on some lakes where you keep the first 25 fish regaurdless of size.

To expand on this topic, you can take LEGALLY SIZED fish from public waters and place them in private waters. You can not place ANY fish in public waters. You can not take undersized fish from public waters.
