In the mornings they are usally around lights and docks, generally you can see them coming up to the surface. As far as life span: Very short if you don't have a good bait tank. The tank needs to be round and have a recurrulation system that filters out their scales. You also need to keep the water cool. This will keep them alive for hours.
A bucket with and aerator might get you a hour in the fall but prolly about 30 mins in the summer.
Were you talking about the two guides and the Cajun CC near the dam, loading up on the hybirds?

Dont know about now but in the spring you can get shad by the 5 gal buckets at the 2859 bridge on the east end by the boat ramp..... Along the concrete on each side of the roadway.... It is worth a try..............
Crappie fishing... what else is there ??

You saw a different show than I did. Guaranteed absolutely loaded up. They had limits in all boats. Not bad for the number of people they had out.
As for the shad depends on the day as to which one works better. Usually the one I dont have is what they bite. Threadfin are easier to find on RC than gizzards. I've come to the conclusion that the bigger the better. Those hybrids just cant resist those big shad. I had bait that was to small saturday and didnt catch many hybrids at the boat show until most of the people left. I guess they decided they would eat the small shad since all the big ones were gone. Go up in any cove to the shallow areas and you should find some. Try one of the coves up by the wilderness and I bet you will find some.
