I'm looking at purchasing a reel for deep cranking and wanted to get pros and cons on the following two reels:

Revo Winch
Bass Pro Shops David Fritt's cranking reel

I don't do that much deep cranking and wondered if the Revo Winch was worth the extra coin.

I'm working on a similar dilemma. I have a revo winch on my regular cranking rod (and really like it) but don't do that much deep cranking. On the new rod I picked up for deep cranking, I have been using a garcia 4600 c3 and hate it.

I've also heard good things about the Fritz cranking reel but haven't used one. The winch is awesome, but if you're not going to use it very often I don't know if I would say it's worth the extra money for you.

Try the 5:1 Shimano Curado, I love it.

REVO WINCH...I have two and can't think of using anything else.

I have the Fritz and love it when I use it. Like you, I don't do much deep crankin, but when I do it's a smooth casting machine. I just couldn't justify buying an expensive rig as little as I deep crank. I have it paired with the 7ft BPS crankin stick...sweet combo!

I have both and like you had to decide if I wanted to spend all that money for a reel with just one purpose in life. So to make a long story short, the Fritt's reel does all my cranking, liked it so much bought another one, now have 2 rigs set up for cranks.
Winch has been turned into an all purpose rig,such as SB, jigging spoons, topwater, and sandbass rig. The winch gets most of the work, at that price it should

+1 Yeaitsme! Both my Fritt's are in the 4.7:1 gear ratios. Have also learned I like that reel for my Yellow Majics and hard jerk baits as well because the Fritt's reels do not have instant anti-reverse and the 4.7 doesn't take up as much line and enables me to make it easier to keep the lures nearly in the same spot after the rod jerk. Yeah I could do it with a faster reel but it is even easier with the Fritt's reels. Oh yeah the another plus on the David Fritt's reels is the level wind line guide is mounted out further from the spool to decrease line angle from the spool to the level wind line guide making longer casts with lighter lures easier. For the price the Fritt's reels are a great reel.

check out a bass pro extreem 5.1 to one ratio, i have there 6.4s and am getting one of these for deep cranking, besides, it has a flipping switch on it

Fritts helped design the crankin' reel from BPS. It wasn't given an instant anti reverse on purpose...when fish hit, the reel will have some give in order to eleminate pull aways or short strikes. This could help if you don't crank very much. For deep cranks, stick with the 4.7:1 gear ratio. You'll not have to work as hard with deep cranks and it will allow the cranks to reach their maximum depth, which is extremely critical to hitting bottom/rocks/brush, etc. and creating strikes.
