I have a Ranger 492v with a Merc 225 with a 24 pitch 4 blade trophy prop. My problem is that at lower speeds it will not stay on plane and the front end bounces. It has a pretty good hole shot and top end is 60mph on GPS at 5500rpm. My shaft is exactly 3 1/2 inches below hull. Is my problem a prop issue or does everything sound OK. I am considering smart tabs or a hyrofoil but just wanted some input first. Thanks

I guess I should have stated this is happening with the trim all the way down.

More than likely a prop thing, I assume you just got the boat?

Yes, new boat for me, but not a new boat.

Did you put the prop on it or was it already on there?

Are you sure it is trimmed all the way down? It sounds like it is not going all the way down.

seems to me he should be running a 25 or 26 pitch.

I'd get rid of that 4 blade prop, and get a 3 blade. Ask Steve Glenn at Steve's Custom Props but I think Huckleberyy's right, a 25 sounds more like it on that set-up.
