A friend-(Dave T.)and I went out today Fri. 4/3/09 and we both came home with our limits of cats. All cats were caught on Big Marv's and sure-shot punch baits in 3-4 ft. of water under corks set at 2 ft. We concentrated on the shorelines with woody structure with cormorants roosting on it. Sorry no pics because we didn't have a camera with us. The BITE is on!!!!!!

There are some good ones in there. Just make sure to use live bait like shad or perch. I have seen some good ones caught up in the pecan bayou that feeds into Lake Brownwood. Good Luck!!!

Charles, you fish up toward the area the river comes into the lake, right? I have juglined, rod and reel fished both in the main lake and have never gotten a bite.

I go to May Texas several times a year to visit friends. As you know, this is very close to the lake. I have taken by boat up several times and never had any luck in the lake. Now, jonnyt did give me some good advice last time I went up, but I had already fished in the main lake. Next time up, I will head up the river a piece to see how this is for me.
Now, let me ask this. Have any of you ever had any luck in the main part of the lake for catfish? I put in at the park(beautiful facility with outstanding launch) and I find the lake and area to be beautiful. However, I have never caught a fish in the lake. I fish drop-offs, the structures in the lake, etc. Is it that there are no catfish in the main lake or is it(most likely)I am not fishing correctly?

Charles, man, that would be great. Will email you a few days before I go. I think lake Brownwood is a beautiful lake and it would be great to catch a few fish in it.
