I have a Chevy 01 2500 HD 4x4 with a 6.0 v8, normal highway is 16-17 mpg pulling a 21 foot Skeeter 10 mpg. I was very surprised how low of gas milage I got pulling the boat! Sure thought it would be better than 10!!

I drive an 07 Chevy Silverado 4X4 crewcab and pull an 18 ft Nitro. Get about 18 mpg around town and on the hwy normally, but then 11 mpg pulling the rig. Of course, I'm kinda like rangerb above, always jacked up and in a hurry to get there so pulling about 10 mph over the limit usually. Now that I see the mileage from some others with my rig, maybe I should back her down a bit and just miss out on some fishing time........NAAAAAAH

Mine is horrible. Atleat according to the computer. Says 10-11. I got a 07 f150 and we pull a 17ft bass boat and a 15 fooot trailer with two atvs. Either way it aint good. Unloaded I think I get 16 to 17. My dad is thinking of getting a f250 which will pull a lot better and get better gas milage with the diesel. I ran the numbers and if the new diesels get 20mpg in a half ton then they will be cheaper pulling and about 30cents more unloaded than my gas. Still have to pay premium price for it but they do pull a lot better.

05 Dodge quad cab with Hemi and 3.92 rear end.
Avg. about 17.5 hwy/city and get about 12 pulling 20ft Skeeter 75mph.

Before the Dodge I had 2004.5 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 Duramax (chipped, etc..) and got about the exact same mileage empty and pulling, as the Dodge gasser. The dodge pulls awesome, but thats about it. Pulls a heck of alot better than my 01 Chevy Z71 and 5.3

2008 F150 SuperCrew 4.6l V8 The sticker said 14-19 MPG, and that was a joke. I got 15 MPG one time and that was on a trip to Kentucky. I usually average about 13.5 on the road, and 10 or less when pulling the boat. 20' BassCat. JR

I have a 2004 Dodge Quad Cab diesel and I get up to 17 mpg pulling a 20ft BassCat if I keep it at 60mph. If I kick it up between 70-75 I get between 14 and 15 mpg. Not towing @ 60-65 I get up to 24 mpg. All mileage # listed are all hiway miles.

08 GMC Sierra Z71 less than 10,000 miles.
Computer Averages
18 - 20MPG w/o load 65 to 75 mph
13 - 15MPG with 16' Lund at 70 to 75 in tow mode
11 - 13 with 24' 4 Winns cuddy cabin boat 65 to 70 tow mode.
best was 21.7 going less than 60 toward Red River between Denton and Gainsville with a tail wind.
This truck has fuel management that turns off four cyliders when going down hill or just under light load tail wind etc. works great.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!

My 08 F-250 SCrew 4X4 Diesel normally gets 15.5ish. Pulling my 19 ft Bass Cat I get around 13. It only has 8000 miles on it so far. I'm hoping it does better as it gets broken in. Love the way it pulls though.

My old truck did much better.LOL got 20-22 highway unloaded and 16-17 pulling same boat. 2003 4 door Duramax. Had lots of mods tho. about 10,000 dollars worth.LOL.

Numbers are usless, You'd have to pull the same boats at the same speeds to get an idea of which truck does better. Driving habits, Weight, and Type of roads come in play big time specially when you are towing. I get anywhere from 10-16 mpg when towing my boat.

That's what i was wondering, my Bronco said not to tow in overdrive but the new Expedition says only to take out of overdrive if experiencing excessive down shifting. tried to go to Fork in overdrive and the amount of down shiffting made me twitch. I always tow now with over drive off, but on level highway it sure helps the mileage if you leave it on......

1997 F250 4x4, lifted, chipped, exhaust modifications, etc. 7.3l diesel, 3.55 axles. Before low sulfur diesel I got 15-17 around town and 20-21 on the highway. Both numbers have dropped 1-2mph with the low sulfur fuel.

Pulling the boat I get 10-12mpg, but my boat is very tall and weighs 7000#. With the high gear ratio speed doesn't affect mileage much. If I drive below 70mph I have to drop into 4th gear for any little hill.

Cheers,

I've got a 2008 Silverado 1/2 ton with the 5.3 E85 motor it gets around 15.5 to and from work, 18 on the hwy w/o pulling my boat (70-75 mph), 11-13 pulling my heavy old 22ft FishMaster CC (60-70 mph). Only have 6,500 miles on it so far, hopefully it will improve as it breaks in.

Have any of you guys noticed an improvement if you use Premium Fuel?
