I was fishing in one of the creeks that flows into nocona hills on the south end of lake nocona and looked down and saw something that looked like a stock lying next to log under the water. i kept looking at it and noticed a triger guard so i figured i ought to pull it up and check it out. it dosnt look like its been there long cause some of the levers and things still move. and were i found it probaly wouldnt be a good duck huntin place either. any ideas.

May think about calling the police. It may or may not have been used to commit a crime and than dumped in the lake. Yeah I know, it sounds like something out of a movie. That might be the reason it is there. The person that dumped it may have watched the same movie before commiting the crime.

never hurts to have something like that checked out. if it has been used in a crime, you don't want to get cought with it. if it hasen't, after 30 days or so the cops will let you have it back. i'ed think they would anyway. just my op

i'd give it an oil bath and keep it personally.

I'd of left it right where it was and forgot I'd ever seen it. A found gun can be nothing but trouble.

Turn it in, get it back, give it an oilbath, shoot it (might be why it's where it is!). If you don't like it, put it back where you found it.

personally, i'm on the side of turning it in. guns don't get in an isolated portion of a creek by accident.

Do what you want but I do not believe balistics can be taken from a shot gun, being you said this was not a duck hunting spot I will assume its an shotgun. But if it was me I just got a new gun. Oh alot of LEO's will not return the gun to you it will be destroyed. I don't know this for fact but was told this buy a friend.

Best to turn it into the police whether this gun committed a crime or not. Let them destroy it. Probably not any good anyway and you don't want a kid to find it in the water like you did. Just my 2cents
