Contact the Corps of Enigineer's ask if you can put up Signs near the entrances to a few of their parks.. Put those up a few weeks before the tourny and you should have a mega sweet turn out.
I got lumber to make the signs along with paint.
I even know a dude with a table top hot dog cart we could use to sell or give away hot dogs to kids.
Wooo!

What will happen with the fish that are caught? Im new to the tournament thing but how will the fish be kept alive without a live well. I would hate to see alot of dead fish. Dont the fish have to be alive to count in other (boat) tournaments..

I only use lures with trebles about half the time from the bank, other things I use are single, like buzzbaits, spinners, jig, plastics so the treble thing needs to be rethought some.

This is a great idea. Sounds like a great way to meet people from the sight and have a little friendly competition; as well as learn some new bank fishing techniques.
I would definately participate.

I've started an official forum just for the tournaments. It's located here: http://texasbankfishing.com/tournaments/Q) "What will happen with the fish that are caught? Im new to the tournament thing but how will the fish be kept alive without a live well. I would hate to see alot of dead fish." A) We'll have volunteers that verify each catch, weight, release. The goal will be to get the fish back into the water asap. Q) "I only use lures with trebles about half the time from the bank, other things I use are single, like buzzbaits, spinners, jig, plastics so the treble thing needs to be rethought some." A) Again, this will be a tough call. This will really only be an issue when bass are part of the tournament fish. Even though personally I would like to make it a treble free tournament, I can see certain lures being pretty much a requirement when bass fishing. Again, let's see how the majority feels on the issue in the coming weeks.

Well, it's a slow start, but we have a total of 3 anglers on the tournament forum so far. Could use some more. If interested, hop on over to the TBF Tournament forum and let's get this organized. I'm ready to run with it, but I'd like to get some final feedback before proceeding. Thanks!

Y'all might want to think about White Rock Lake. Back in the early 90's events like this were held for the youngsters there> You have long banks and lot of open area for the people to fish the banks. All kinds of fish in the lake and would allow for each person to fish a diff part of the bank and still be within the eye of a judge. Just a thought and my 2cents . Hope it helps.

Ok, I went and got my name on the fishing site also. Just not to many people have signed up for it just yet. Hopefully more of the bank fishermen and women will sign up so that we can have us some fishing tournments. At least have them go and check out the site and sign up for that so they can see what it is all about.

Yah, this will take time to set up and organize. That's ok, I'm in this for the long haul. I'd rather do it "right" then do it fast and un professional, etc. It's going to be fun once it's all organized and ready to go!

I would attend those as my work schedule allowed. I signed up and posted some suggessions over there mostly towards tying to keep it simple and not overly ruled, but it would be ok with me however dmunsie set it up.

I think it would be best to have the tournaments on the weekend. Just an idea, but I think it wuld be best to have the tournaments on the weekends. The weekends provide more of a chance for anglers to plan the tournaments around their work schedules and for the younger anglers to plan them around their school schedules. More people would attend if they were on the weekends, in my oppinion. Good luck starting this thing up, and i expect to attend some of the tournaments myself.
If the fish is not out of the water, you didn't catch it.

White Rock lake and Ray Hubbord would be great locations for tournaments involving all species of fish.

Wondering if any more fishermen have signed up for the tournment yet. We need more to make it worth our time that is for sure.
