I noticed a man fishing one day that had something in his pocket he would use to free his line when he got hung. I looked at BPS but that seems too big to use. Any ideas of where I can get a smaller one or how to make one myself to free hung lures? Thanks, Ron

Try a 1oz bell sinker with a snap attached to the eye.
When you get hung up.. snap the weight to the line and feed it down and bounce it a couple of times. David

Bassinfool,
I saw Guide Jeff Kirkwood with one while I was in his bass class. He said that we should always have one but I didn't think to ask where to get one. Perhaps you could write him and ask and then post it here for the rest of us.

If you want to go cheap a old spark plug does the same thing. Put the spark plug on your line and bend the bar where you set the gap on the plug so it will stay on the line and slider down to the hook and bounce it a few times. Old trick grandad taught me years ago.

I second the spark plug - seen it done but haven't done it myself.

Lots available on Internet. Go to Yahoo.com and do a search for "Lure Retriever" and you will get a list.

Thanks for the great response folks, I will think of someting I guess. I do have a heavy "slab" weight that is no good anymore, thought of putting some type of clip on it and using. Think this will work? Thanks again.

Kinda hard to use one of these when your lure is 15 feet up in a tree limb.....you should see me flailin' and wailin' the tree limbs on Caddo Creek ------------------

Tree rats with bushy tails...my all-time favorite game food..."yum-yum, eat 'em up!" (That's what the Wild Man from Borneo who escaped from the circus on the Little Rascals said to them when they were camping out one night and he strolled into camp...)
