I was at the lake the other day and had about a gallon of water drain out of my bilge.

I thought the live wells might have some leaks in the tubing, so I filled the live wells when I got home and no leaks.

Then I looked at the plastic drain plug to see if it was cross threaded and it wasn't. It has been difficult to screw it in to seat the "o-ring" for several weeks. It dawned on me that that I had forgotten to grease the plug like I have done in years past.

Several times during the boating season I spread some silicone grease (the kind for your light bulbs) on the drain plug and insert. That makes it easier to seat the "o-ring" on the plug.

Anyone else have this problem with their plastic drain plug?

Yes and carry an extra one. Seen several get to the lake without the plug because the plastic broke the keeps it in place. Everything that gets in the boat ends up their in the bilge.

I carry a spare but I never take mine out. I use the bilge pump to get rid of water. I also keep a bar of soap in the bilge to keep it from getting gunky.
