OK, Do you tightline, drift, fish with cork, jug, trotline, etc.
I personally like to fish with a 13 1/2in. cedar float that I make myself, but I do tightline and drift fish and even help a friend run his jug lines although I don't get any kick out of the Jugging.

Somewhat tight line, with reel disengauged, with clicker on, santee cooper rigged w/circle hooks. I have drifted but not carzy about it. I prefer tying up to flooded timber. While taking a nap .

I like using a slip cork while anchored around trees/stumps. RELAXING, it is what fishing is supposed to be!

Go to my spot, set anchor off front of boat with about 100' feet of rope to allow my boat to drift side to side. Set up 2 to 6 poles in the rod holders anywhere from the bottom to a few feet under the boat and sit back!

i like it all ... but i am fond of watching a lighted float go under about 100' out ... when i had a buncha kids in the house i liked to set up camp, set out 6 or 8 long rods about 25' apart & let the kids run & play while i tended camp & watched the rods, had some lil lights for the rod tips that i got from breakaway
regards albertking catfishing is now an industry ... it's best for the industry to eat baby catfish

I like it all, but I prefer to night fish. Seems like we have better luck at night, plus its alot cooler. Tie up, set out a couple of poles and kick back...

Set a couple poles up on an upside down folding chair on a dock and talk smack with my pals while I wait for a bite.
There's nothing like the clanking that goes on as a big 'un hits the cut perch and makes a run.
Bonus points if he takes the pole off the chair and it flies into the water (with string keeping the pole attached to the dock!).
I would like to try some other methods (boat, trotline, jugs) but I sure am happy with what I'm currently working with.
Oh and I agree that the night time is the right time.

I fish the way my old granpa taught me, I set out & bait a trotline, go back to camp & drink coffee, snack & just sit around the fire & visit or play cards for about 3-4 hours, then go run the line & re-bait it & start all over again until we get too tired to run it again & go to sleep awhile. Wake up & have some breakfast & go run the line & clean all the fish & rest up around camp, because when it gets about dark-thirty, its time to fish some more! Those were the days & times that I'll remember & cherish all my life! That is my favorite way to fish for catfish, with loved ones, good food & a great campsite, That is what memories are made of!
Keep your powder dry & don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!!

Drift fishing works realy good for me. I use three big drift socks and let the wind push me through some good spots.

Hank, that indeed brings back memories!
We still have the most enjoyment when we involve the whole family. It's kids, grandkids and great grandkids for me now!
Setting up a camp is part of the fun for us. Windy Point of Tawakoni is nice, Juniper point on Texoma, Paradise Cove, Eisenhower Marina.....we have had good times at them all over the years.
We take plenty of food and I am designated "cookie" for the outfit...love it! It is the only time I get truly fresh fried fish.....catch fish, clean fish, fry fish...right at the site. I have two basic skillets I use...a deep 10 inch chicken fryer and a big 12 inch Lodge....both cast iron.
We run trotlines in shallow water from shore during the night and catch enough fish to be enjoyed by all. We seine with a 20 foot small mesh and have two throw nets that the older kids with more energy keep us well supplied with shad and perch.
I always take the boat, camper and two tents along with wood for a fire as it is usually scarce. I take a propane stove also and it gets a workout too, especially for breakfast.
The most we have ever had was 22 during a big camp at Paradise Cove 3 years ago when we camped for 3 days with various ones coming and going. A big highlight was when my son and daughter-in-law surprised all of us with 3 big buckets of Kentucky fried chicken on the second day there! Extra crispy!
I have gone with just me and the wifey and I have gone just by myself, but the best times I have ever had was when we involved as many family members as we could. There is just something magic about it!
****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .

I like any legal method that works while I am using it. But I usually use shrimp when the fish are biting liver,or the fish are biting yesterday or tommorrow, over there when I'm over here, a half hour before or after I fish that spot.

My favorite thing to do is to throw out 15 or so noodles with about 3 feet of line on them and watch them drift at night. Its a blast chasing down a noddle when its bobbing up and down trying to stay on the surface!! Anchored jugs are not near as fun but I will resort to that too if the wind is blowing to hard for the drifters.

I like fishing with a pencil cork with the bait, usually fresh cut shad about 18" under the cork, and using the trolling motor I work down a brushy bank or rock rip rap similar to casting for bass.
It's almost like topwater fishing for bass in that you have to be good at laying your cast close to a bush or stump, and be able to cast accurately into a likely spot, and the cat usually takes it right away and if not, you move a little bit to the next spot.
I've caught several cats out of one bush, moving down a bank!
When I catch one I make several casts to the same spot, and if others are there they will let you know.
It's a more agressive way to catfish but I enjoy it, and I seem to catch better sized cats doing it that way!

Just one more cast!
