Ok so I went 15 minutes out of my way on the way home to Academy and bought one of the night blaster lights. Upon arriving home I plugged hooked it up and nothing, only response at all is the wires got hot. Am I missing something or is it just defective? Also there was a small zip lock plastic bag inside with what looks like silicone, is that what it is or what is it?

I was able to get it to come on for a second by tapping on the side of it. I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it to get another one. Are they reliable?

Good to know, mike. I don't own one, so don't know, but thanks for the heads up. Sure someone on here has one and can help you out.

I've got one of the floating headlights that has worked for years.

That's why they call it fishing and not catching!

It is defective. Night Bl;asters usually last pretty good for me. They work until I break them. smile

I got a new one and it works! Is this light intended to be sunk or just float on the surface?

THEY ARE MADE TO BE SUBMERSIBLE. I'VE HAD MINE FOR A COUPLE MONTHS & IT WORKS GREAT. YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT UNDER WATER FOR A FEW SECONDS SO IT WILL FILL UP THEN LET IT HANG A FEW FEET UNDER THE BOAT. HAS WORKED REAL WELL FOR SANDIES AT NIGHT ON CEDAR CREEK. HAVEN'T TRIED IT FOR CRAPPIE YET BUT SHOULD WORK WELL OVER A BRUSH PILE OR UNDER BRIDGES.

The fact that they work so well for sandies makes them difficult for crappie IMO. I can't seem to keep the sand bass away when I use them to try to catch crappie.

I bought one last saturday, It said if you want to submerge it totally to put a 10 oz. weight on it, the light worked great, I put it down about 1 ft. under the water over a brushpile on RR couldn't catch crappie for the sandbass. Seriously caught sandbass from dark till 1:00 am as soon as I put the minnow down to the top of the brushpile, a lot of times it didn't make it that far. I had about 5 doz. minnows, used them all, scooped ghost minnows off the top of the water, used them, same results, got my throw net and caught shad, and used them till I was give out. As for your question is it worth it. If you want to catch more fish than you ever want to clean, you might want to get another one.

I just held mine under water till it quit bubbling & it stayed down without a weight.I'm sure having the weight would make it easier because then you could just chunk it in the water. but yes, the sand bass load up under it. We would pull up to a well lit dock, get just close enough to cast to the light & drop the night blaster down & you were not getting that road runner back to the boat without a fish.
