The family and I are thinking of hiring a guide at Lake Ray Hubbard? Any recommendations? Ron Metzger and John Varner are the ones people seem to talk about most. Any personal experiences...

Can't go wrong with john Varner. He is frequently at Bass Pro Shops in Garland for our 'Guide Night'. He will teach you alot and put you on the fish. Regards, Bart Armstrong - Bass Pro Shops, Garland, TX

I had the pleasure of fishing with John Varner last summer. He is very knowledgeable in fishing Ray Hubbard, and very generous in helping one out. I think from the above posts he is well thought of. Hope that you have a good trip!

If you want to learn how to catch fish and have a great time doing it...book John Varner. If you want a boat ride without cathcing fish and a sun burn book someone else. John lives on the lake and knows all the seasonal patterns. You will not meet a better guy who helps everyone which is what you want in a true guide.
