This question is for those with experience fishing the POC jetties. What would help me is understanding if there is a difference between the NE jetty and the SW one. All weather conditions being equal, same wind / wave action is one more preferred over the other? Any special structure near one or the other? I wanna head out there around the 4th of July and would like to have any tips I can get before hand. Thanks in advance.

In July, you should have a southeast wind if it's blowing. So inside the south jetty will be protected. The North jetty seems shallower and will muddy on an incoming tide. If I have a choice I always fish the inside south midway down till the end or the outside south near the end. The only time I fish the north is if someone is feeling sick and needs a break from the rollers. I have seen reports of good fish being caught on the north but I never have caught much there. There is a hole washed out at the end of each jetty. The holes are usually rough and crowded but you cant beat the redfish action there in fall. Expect other boats to anchor close to you even in July.

Polar, I second Draper, with the south jetty. Also depending on the tide, incoming tide I move to the bay side of the island. If the seas are calm, you might consider heading out to the Rig for some King, Ling, snapper or shark action. It is just under 10 miles from the end of the jetty, you can see it.

Seagate, POC is not really a good place to wade, there are some back bays that you can wade into, but I have not done much fishing from the shoreline.
My suggestion, is to invest $300 in a Kayak. You can launch on the ICW, and from there you have a short paddle to a lot of wadding action. GL

Depends on the fish you are targeting. If in July I will be outside the jetty all day long, and slaying trout. July and August are the only times I ever go to the jetties and its always on the outside. If its too crowded out there, and it usually is, I'll run down the surf and catch trout.
Seagate, Boggy Bayou has some descent wading. Its really the only place you can wade fish from the bank in POC, as you would have to cross the intracoastal to get to anything else.
