Please, wear your PFD's when you're on the water! This tragedy may have been avoided. This young man's father was in the boat with him when he fell overboard. He never resurfaced. I can't imagine being in his fathers shoes. He won several tourneys last year as a co-angler and was practicing for his 2nd from the front of the boat. http://www.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=148521http://www.bassfan.com/docktalk.asp?id=5315Thoughts and prayers with the Clement family.

man everyone needs to have their lifejacket on any time the big motor is running. I know it seems dumb sometimes but it kills me to have to read post like this. This is something that is easily prevented. Just wear it at at least when you are going to get on pad. Our prayers go out to his family.

I agree 100%. PEople don't realize when you need a life vest, you don't have time to dig one out. Most accidents happen so fast, there is no response time to them.
90% of the boating fatalities can be elimated by lifejackets alone!

It very sad and it happens ALL the time! because of my job i get to talk to family members, friends and buddies that were in the boat or saw the accident and tried to help. I assist with recoveries and investigate the deaths. I also have to notify family members and assist them. Please guys, ive seen the results and its not worth it EVER! Just wear it!

Family lifted up in prayer.
I made myself afford one of the inflatable vests and wear it 100% of the time. I am seeing these things on sale more and more these days.

I am very familiar with that waterway. I was a police officer in that area and those river channels that feed the California Delta have strong under-currents. Every year people have lost their lives by simply diving into the water or falling overboard and due to the swift under-current it is next to impossible to surface. Our thoughts and prayer go to the family.

I agree 100% but the article doesn't state if they were running or if he fell in while fishing. So if he followed the rule of wearing it while running, it wouldn't have helped. Guys, the inflatable pfd's are comfortable, reliable, durable, and for the most part very economical. Spend the cash for a high quality, good fitting inflatable and wear it at all times when you're in the boat. I've worn one every day on the water since 2000 and it has never interfered with my fishing ability.

I read this the other day. Very sad.
Prayers for this guy and his family
After falling in several years ago I started wearing one as soon as the gas motor is started. I have people that look at me like I'm crazy. My boat only has a 9.9 but there are stumps and tree tops that I have hit that can easily throw you off balance. People don't realize at even that low speed if you fall out and hit your head you are gone.
