I fish alot of smaller lakes where everyone knows the best banks to fish and those fish always get hit hard. I would like to put alot of brush piles out to try to consentrate fish where no one else knows of. I have heard that size is not the most important thing. I hear that location is everything. Is this true? If so where are ideal spots to put them? Thanks John.

Take a look at this link. Robby provides some good information.

From personal experience, if your using trees etc. stick to the hardwoods. I have made some out of what I call scrub trees and those seem to dissipate rather quickly because they are softer wood. Good luck.
