 New Ks. State Record?

Just heard on the news at noon that a possible new state record bass was caught yesterday about 15 miles from my house. Previous record was 11.12 (?) caught in 1977. I think they said 12.31 caught by a 16 year old kid out of a strip pit. I know that's nothing by Texas standards but it is a huge fish up here. More details as available.

That's be cool if it was broke. Being from there (no comment from the peanut gallery) I know how big a deal a fish like that is. I remember the days when a 6 pound fish was a giant.

Update. Kid was 14 years old fishing a private strip pit and competing in a kids fishing derby. Bass was 11.758# and I think he won big fish!  SE Kansas grass grower

Read an article on it in the Kansas City Star this morning. Pending everything checks out and they believe it will, they have a new record. When i was a kid, we used to drive by a lot of those strip pits and they all looked like they should be full of big fish. My dad fished several of them growing up and always talked about them. Glad to see a new record. Don't you know that pit will be busy for awhile! LOL.
