Where are some good places to do some bank fishing where the wind isn't a big factor? Tried Joe Pool from the park side and the wind was blowing right into the bank. Thanks, Dustin.

Wind is your friend when bank fishing! When the wind is coming right at you, that's one of the best times to fish. I've always caught my biggest fish when there is some decent wind coming right at me. The wind blows in the bait fish which attracts everything else. wink

not when the wind is gusting at 20-30mph when you can only cast 5ft in front of you

... a lot of times when the wind is that strong all you need is to cast 5 feet in front of you, at least if you are fishing w/ bait for catfish

I second that...ive had better days fishing with the wind gusting in my face. The bait gets blown onto the banks or rocks and the fish follow them for easy pickins

When there's wind, there's fish...

The wind surely helped out the fishing on Saturday morning...it was non stop action till the afternoon...

Plenty of shad in the water also wink

I look for wind blown points and banks..I used to have that problem with casting......I came up with two solutions..Keep it low with a side arm or go buy a 600 dollar shimano Calais dc, it has a wind selection control, casts just as far into the wind as without it...Wind always means fish, kinda like them wading birds

They call it fishing, not catching for a reason..

Just one cast and you could have your name in the books!

I gotta break out the spinning gear when faced with casting into the wind. Even with quality casting reels, my thumb will brain farq and I will have a birdnest to deal with.

Wind is great.

First off, the fish are not going to spook as easily when its windy. They feel much more secure in their surroundings. This is why you should use flashy baits or "reaction" baits becasue the fish will be more likely to move for that kind of bait in windy conditions.

Second, the fish 90% of the time will put there nose to the current side. So if the wind is directly in your face, the bass will be able to see your bait for long time, which is "good" and "bad" just depends on your presentations skills.

I typically like to have my back towards the wind becasue then the bait will come from the back side of the fish and the fish will have to make a quick decision on whether to take it or leave it.

Wind in your face means fish on the table. Use the straight sidearm or the figure eight cast when the winds are howling.

Much like sidearm, but you make a fig.8 pattern as you load the rod and cast.
