I've heard warmouth called goggle eye, but I'm sure as a kid we didn't differintiate between warmoutha and green sunfish.
What part of LA where you going to? We used to call redears chinquapin. I grew up in Tensas Parish.

Yeah, I'd go with green sunfish. It is definitely not a warmouth. They are much thicker and are way darker.

I think he did mean chinquapin, I am from north La and I heard that name all the time. We caught a lot more bluegill but did catch the redear/chinquapin as well.

how big can the green sunfish get? cause i caught something today on accident (foul hooked it) and it looked like a perch but it was prolly 10" long and 6" from top to bottom.

They can get 10 inches in length....but 6 inches in width sounds more than normal for a green sunfish as they are usually more narrow than a BG.

It's a green sunfish...also referred to as a google eye. They sure are fun to catch and put up a decent fight don't they?
