I am looking to get the Lowrance LCX 28c HD Fishfinder/GPS. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? Also, if I am primarly fishing lakes and shallow saltwater, do I really need the dual frequency? There is about a $100 difference between the 200khz and the 50/200khz.

Thanks,
SportFisher

You might want to call Lowrance and get their advice.

My understanding is the 200khz is 20 a degree cone and the 50/200khz, the 200 is only like 8 degrees (very narrow, limited coverage area). But the 50 khz spreades out pretty good. But it's only recommended for Down rigger folks/user and salt water use. I have to assume (and believe) the lower freq (50 KHZ) is good for salt.

But for fresh they recomend the 200khz (unless you a Down Rigger guy and want to see your cannon balls).

I just mounted my 28c. Today was the first day I really played with it. Mark's right, not unless your a downrigger guy.
